Assessment & Scholarship of Teaching & Learning in Global Contexts

Supporting Innovation at Mason through Assessment and Scholarship

CISA’s innovative programming combined the teaching excellence in the areas of prescriptive English academic language support, customized general education courses, and specialized student services to offer the ACCESS and BRIDGE programs for students with international educational backgrounds.  At the core of this effort was a shared vision of expanding and engaging action to enhance the richness of the educational experience for all students in an inclusive higher education setting that breaks down linguistic and ethnic barriers.

With more than 8 affiliated faculty and administrative faculty researchers, CISA strove to promote international interests within the educational community at George Mason University and beyond by providing collaborative opportunities and research networks with existing university centers and offices in areas related to international education, linguistics, intercultural communication, diversity, and institutional culture within the field of higher education.
