Using a “book club” format, the leader’s job is to: (1) promote reading as an enjoyable experience, (2) motivate the readers to regularly engage in the reading process, (3) facilitate engaging discussions of the text, (4) assign readings from week to week and prepare discussion ideas/activities based on the text, and (5) to engage the group in one outside activity related to the reading during the term. Each UTA will report to a Graduate Teaching Assistant assigned as the Common Reading Program Leader.
