The George Mason University, Department of English invites applicants for the part-time position of Adjunct Faculty to teach an innovative year-long, stretch, team-taught Enhanced English Composition course for freshman international students in the ACCESS program. Guaranteed two-semester appointment beginning August 1, 2012 to teach one to two sections per term. We particularly need faculty available to teach during the day between 9AM and 3PM and have demonstrated experience working with multilingual speakers of English and teaching first-year composition courses.
M.A. required; Ph.D. preferred. One graduate degree must be in English and candidates must have experience teaching composition at the university level. Candidates should also have experience teaching students with international educational backgrounds and/or TESOL coursework in their own academic background. The successful candidate will also have one or more of the following: experience teaching grammar/linguistics, experience instructing critical reading/writing connections, experience teaching graduate students, and/or research interests in second language acquisition.
