The George Mason University, Center for International Student Access (CISA) invites applicants for the part-time position of Adjunct Faculty to teach a cutting-edge, year-long, stretch, team-taught writing-intensive course entitled “Graduate Communications Across the Disciplines” for graduate-level international students in the BRIDGE program. Guaranteed two-semester appointment beginning August 1, 2012 to teach one section per term. Faculty must be available to teach during the day between 9AM and 3PM and have demonstrated experience working with graduate level multilingual speakers of English and teaching rhetorical strategies for composing texts in US scholarly genres within the disciplines.
M.A. required; Ph.D. preferred. One graduate degree must be in English and candidates must have experience teaching composition at the university level. Candidates should also have experience teaching students with international educational backgrounds and/or TESOL coursework in their own academic background. The successful candidate will also have one or more of the following: experience teaching grammar/linguistics, experience instructing critical reading/writing connections, experience teaching graduate students, and/or research interests in second language acquisition.
